In 1995, MENDAKI took over the administration of the SMB.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nApplication Period<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>13 May 2026 \u2013 15 Jul 2026 (Academic Year : Aug 26 &#8211; May 27)<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nEligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply for the Special Malay Bursary (SMB), applicants must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Malay Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident(PR).<\/li>\n<li>Pursuing <strong>first-year studies in a full-time University degree course<\/strong> offered by any of the following six local Universities:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>National University of Singapore (NUS)<\/li>\n<li>Nanyang Technological University of Singapore\/National Institute of Education <br \/>\n(NTU\/NIE)<\/li>\n<li>Singapore Management University (SMU)<\/li>\n<li>Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)<\/li>\n<li>Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)<\/li>\n<li>Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Have a gross household Per Capita Income (PCI) of S$1000 and below.<\/li>\n<li>Obtained outstanding results in:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>GCE A-Level examinations preferably with 3 distinctions or<\/li>\n<li>Polytechnic Diploma with a Certificate of Merit or<\/li>\n<li>International Baccalaureate<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Possess good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA).<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must be in receipt of the MENDAKI Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) scheme. You may apply your TTFS application here.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nValue of Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An annual living allowance of $3,400 for the duration of the course of study subject to satisfactory academic performance.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Total number of Awards = 5<\/li>\n<li>Quantum : $3,400 per year<\/li>\n<li>CGPA cut-off for 2nd &amp; subsequent year students : 3\/5<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nTerms and Conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Priority will be given to applicants from low-income families.<\/li>\n<li>Only complete applications with all mandatory documents provided will be processed. Applications that do not fulfill the eligibility requirements will be rejected.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants will be shortlisted based on a competitive evaluation among eligible applicants. Do note that fulfilling the eligibility requirements does not automatically result in an award.<\/li>\n<li>Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.<\/li>\n<li>The Bursary is intended to support the recipient\u2019s educational expenses such as tuition fees, course materials, living expenses and fees for fees for institution-organised educational activities.<\/li>\n<li>Recipients MUST maintain a minimum cGPA of 3\/5 throughout their course of study.<\/li>\n<li>Recipients are required to submit a copy of their examination results to MENDAKI annually before the funds can be disbursed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nMandatory Documents Required for Your Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Applicant\u2019s most recent academic transcript clearly indicating their:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Full Name<\/li>\n<li>Name of Course &amp; Level<\/li>\n<li>Subject Score or CGPA<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Proof of student confirmation into Institution clearly indicating:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Full Name<\/li>\n<li>Name of Course<\/li>\n<li>Commencement Date<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>In no more than 150 words, share your achievements &amp; outline your goals for the next 5 &amp; 10 years.
